Happy New Year! I am really excited to announce bookings have opened for our next set of workshops happening in January / February 2011.

We’ve got a great line-up for you over the two weekends, with a workshop aimed at beginners and other workshops for those interested in drama and documentaries!

Practical Drama Directing: Direct & Shoot A Scene – Sat 29th January
An intensive hands on practical workshop where the participants learn the nuts and bolts of drama directing including the grammar of film, a tool-kit of shots, preparing storyboards & shot-lists, crossing the line and directing actors on-set. All participants have the chance to direct and shoot a short scene on camera with professional actors and film equipment. DVD provided of finished scenes. - BOOK NOW

This fun, friendly, intensive, action-packed practical film workshop with lots of hands-on camera experience is aimed at beginners and takes you through the 8 simple steps to make your first film. An intensive hands on practical guide on the nuts and bolts of self-shooting documentary film-making including learning coming up with an idea, scripting, directing, producing & shooting. Practical Documentary 2: Shoot & Edit A Documentary In One Day – Sun 6th February
The ultimate “in at the deep end” documentary film-making challenge. An intensive hands on practical workshop where the aim is to write, direct, shoot and edit a short documentary which will be posted online at the end of the day. Now is one of the most exciting times to be a filmmaker. With the Internet opening up a wealth of funding and screening opportunities, there’s never been a better time to get your films made, seen and sold.
If you have a great idea and the know-how to make a good movie, then your work could be seen by millions of people around the world. And if you do it right, you could even make some money!
With traditional avenues of film distribution being in dire straits and with very few titles ever seeing a theatrical or DVD release (less than 10% of all films ever make it into the shops, less than 1% make it onto cinema screens), now is the time for indie film-makers to seize new and emerging opportunities.
We believe that as the next generation of writers, directors, producers and filmmakers, we are stronger if we all work together, learn from each other, inspire each other and together we can invent new ways to reach our audiences.
And that’s why we want to run these workshops. From making short films and our first feature film CREDO, we got lots of things right, but we also got lots of things wrong, mistakes that cost us dearly. We will never make those mistakes again and by coming on our workshops, you’ll never make those mistakes either!
We want to share all that we’ve learned so hopefully you will be inspired to make your own films and, as a result of coming on our workshops, your films will be better, more successful and more profitable.

Best workshop I’ve attended so far! Good practical experience and tips. A much cheaper workshop than other workshops.

I enjoyed and appreciated the chance to shoot a scene as it was the first practical experience I’ve had.
It was good value for money because of the equipment we had access to throughout the day and the chance to work in different roles.
I found having to act quite difficult athough I know how important it is for a director to understand what it’s like for actors.
I got to create a scene in which we could be creative and put a spin on it and tell actors what we wanted.
It was very good experience and in-depth.
I learnt to deal with actors in high pressure situations.
My expectations were definitely met. I now know how to work with actors!
It was definitely good value for money. I learnt a lot!
