The afternoon – practical shoot & editing:

– the group will become a film-making unit. The unit will make a short film under the guidance of the film tutors.

– All students will play a key role in the film shoot: director, assistant director, camera operator, camera assistant, sound recordist and actors.

– The film will then be edited by a professional editor in front of the group to demonstrate the principles of editing. Then the finished films will be screened to the whole group at the end of the day.

Professional Equipment

All equipment is provided.

Everything used on this workshop is professional equipment: a Sony Z7 HDV video camera, lights and sound. And editing will be done on a professional edit system: Final Cut Pro.

But all the techniques and skills learned in this workshop can be applied to the students own video camera and editing systems at home.

The idea is to give all students the skills, experience and confidence to take their film-making to the next level – to make professional looking films. Once you know what to do, then the sky’s the limit!

About Workshop Leaders

The workshop is run by experienced workshop leaders, Toni Harman and Alex Wakeford. Toni and Alex are also both industry film professionals who have made award-winning internationally distributed short films, documentaries and a  feature film released by a Hollywood Studio.

The workshop leaders  are holders of current enhanced CRB certificates.
